THE SIXTEENTH STREET BRIDGE

The David McCullough Bridge, commonly and historically known as the 16th Street Bridge, is a through arch bridge that spans the AlleghenyRiver in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.   

The 16th Street Bridge was constructed in 1922 with a length of 1,900 feet (580 m) and a width of 40 feet (12 m). The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.  The bridge is one of the more popular bridges in the city of Pittsburgh and provides easy access to the Strip District and the North Shore.  

Pittsburgh is a "city of bridges" with over 400 bridges crossing the three great rivers on which the city is built - the Ohio, the Allegheny and the Monongahela.  Many of the bridges are painted a distinctive yellow which has become associated with the steel industry, the Steelers Baseball team and the city itself.

The image was taken with a tripod-mounted Phase One 645 Camera at ISO 200. Exposure of 1/60th of a second and an aperture of F16.  80 mm Schneider Kreuznach lens with leaf shutter.   The image was captured on a Phase One IQ180 80 megapixel digital back.
