Annecy is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France.  It lies on the northern tip of Lake Annecy, 35 klm south of Geneva.  Beekeeping is a traditional cottage industry. Currently, there are 70,000 beekeepers in France, with 1,300,000 hives producing 18,500 metric tons of honey each year. In 2010, the French beekeeping sector’s estimated worth was 133.5 million euros.

The image was taken with a tripod-mounted Phase One 645 Camera at ISO 35. Exposure of 1/15th second and aperture F8.  80mm Schneider Kreusnach lens.   The image was captured on a Phase One IQ180 80 megapixel digital back.
